To all Hind Compy HATERS: Maybe somebody experienced in physics or evolutionary genetics could field this question. Exactly how significantly has the goggle evolved over the last 30 years (roughly when the compy was created from primordial slime)? I mean does the plastic of today have a different drag coefficient or has it been equipped with flagella or something? I've been wearing the same two compy (one clear, one smoke--one for when I'm happy and one for when I'm sad) for the last two years. It is my humble opinion, that the foam gaskets are much more comfortable and definitely not significantly less durable than silicone. I have replaced my smoke (sad) goggle elastic once with a 1 dollar silicone strap. The antifog of today's goggles is a joke and usually lasts only a few weeks and can be remedied with a single drop of antifog. I am certainly down with paying too much for something just because it's the best (see my bike), but I'm not sure where the technology is improved for the 10-15 dollars extra. The only advance I can tell has been more affordable correction lenses...so back off haters!
Wow, I didn't realize you Compy wearers were such a fiesty lot! Have you formed a PAC to ensure the production of the Compy continues unabated? :)
I'm only kidding, of course. I've just always found it a little funny that people have such dedication to a product like this. You're certainly not the only Compy guy out there, Kurt, I've seen quite a few, so there's obviously something about that goggle people like.
My only gripes with those older type goggles is the foam eye gaskets, which I feel pack out and lose their effectiveness much more quickly than neoprene or whatever it is they use on the Vanquishers, etc. Also the latex strap, but as you said that is easily replaced with a silicone one when it wears out.
I agree any goggle advertised as "anti-fog" is a joke and should be completely ignored. I, for one, don't really think goggles fogging up is that much of a concern.
As a matter of fact, I have started a PAC for Hind Compy supporters. I plan on trying to combine it with some community activism--like automatic jail-time or possibly execution for those that don't use their turn signals or throw cigarette butts out of their car window.;)
What brought this on?
Mea culpa. I bashed Kurt for his endorsement of Hind Compies in the poll someone posted about "what goggles would you buy?" or whatever it is.
By the way, I'd like to add harsh penalties for drivers who insist on driving slow in the passing lane to the PAC agenda.

I'm in! Nothing beats the Compy. I bought 20 pairs last year just in case they quit producing. It's about the only thing I own that is a good value.

What brought this on? I have always just assumed that people buy the goggles that fit their face best and don't leak in the water. If that kind works for you, great.

Count me in......................
Not so much for the Compy PAC thing but for the lining up against a wall and execution of those who don't use their turn signals (or leave them ON when going straight) or throw cigarette butts or coffee cups out of their car window or use the "must" exit lane to jump the queue in the slower moving lane or use the through-going lane to cut into the slow, congested exit lane or .................... the list is endless.
Love the Compy's ... where do you buy them these days? This was my goggle of choice back in the day, but, I admit to being lazy ... having not seen them at swim shops, meets or easily online, I've migrated to a mixture of Speedo brands.
+1
I loved my many pairs of smoke Compys. I didn't even know Hind was still producing them--don't ever see them at my swim store. I've since switched to Speedo Women's Vanquisher but would consider going back!

I hate to bring this up given the comments about Compy Hinds, but does anyone know if you can still buy them anywhere? I'm down to my last two pair. The Water Gear and Speedo Sprints just don't do it for me.
I've emailed Swim Outlet and Kiefer and they just say they don't carry them anymore.
After all these years, I think my face has grown to fit the goggles so I am hoping someone here knows where I can find them.
