Holiday Swim Achievements, 12-24-07 to 1-6-08

Dear All, Thanksgiving swim activities of forum participants showed big determination on the part of many, big yardage, and maybe a dash of refuge seeking. Swimming over end-of-year holidays has a completely different rhythm: holiday/family obligations are greater, taking time from swimming, but there is also the wonderful, once-a-year New Year's swim, different for every coach and club. Any big achievements over this period? Bananas? How did you manage migrating pool schedules? What is planned/did occur for New Year's swim? Regards, VB

Today, December 31, was the first day for most of the New Year's Day swims. Anyone care to post the ingenious sets devised by coaches for this special, once-a-year time? On New Year's Day our coach holds a pizza party at our pool. It's open to all of the Masters swimmers and their families. We swim and go off the diving boards, eat pizza for lunch, then play in the pool some more. So our only "sets" consisted of the belly-flop contest, the cannonball contest, and the "how-many-stacked-up-kickboards-can-you-stand-on-in-the-water" contest. Anna Lea
