So I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and he was making the argument that breathing to one side was horrible technique and not good to do while swimming. I swim breathing on both sides but after and long time I start to lose breath and breath on one side. I feel my technique is good but need to breath this way to continue on. An feed back from you on tis subject. I don't feel he is right.

When anyone first starts breathing on their non-dominant side, it is usually difficult. Keep on working on it; it gets easier over time. The fact that is difficult shows you have room for improvement.
