So I was having a discussion with a friend of mine and he was making the argument that breathing to one side was horrible technique and not good to do while swimming. I swim breathing on both sides but after and long time I start to lose breath and breath on one side. I feel my technique is good but need to breath this way to continue on. An feed back from you on tis subject. I don't feel he is right.

I do not believe it matters which side you breathe on. I can breathe equally well on either side. I have done bilateral breathing but do not use it when racing. I breathe very little in a 50 or 100 and breathe only on the left side unless I am watching another swimmer on my right side. The article is good and yes bilateral breathing helps with balance, but do we need bilateral breathing after we have good balanced strokes?
