My son came up with a very good question as we were sitting there watching tonight......
Why are foreigners even allowed to swim at the U.S. Nationals?
They can not swim in the finals....so why are they even allowed to swim at all? There were a whole lot of places in the B and C finals that could have been filled by Americans if the foreigners were not there.
In most Nationals, they can swim--and win--the A final. They just can't here because this is a selection meet for 2008 Short Course Worlds. At any nationals that is not a selection meet, there are no restrictions as to who can swim where.
