"Below-freezing water temperatures don't deter cold-water swimming enthusiasts. These brave souls defy science, challenge nature and tempt fate to go for a dip in the North Pole and swim from Alaska to the Soviet Union - among other mind-numbing feats."

I just don't get it, other than the 15 minutes of fame. At what point do we cross the line?

- swim a mile in a sewer
- swim over Niagra Falls
- swim the English Channel feet first
