Hi--
Has anyone else out there had a medical condition that forced them to forgo any kind of exercise for a prolonged period of time? I was really getting back into swimming when I had a bad side-effect from the birth control pills my OB put me on in the Spring. I was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism 2 1/2 weeks ago. Now I'm on blood thinners and they're trying to stabilize my levels so I'm told I shouldn't exercise at all until that's done. It's about to drive me insane. I haven't stopped exercising for over a few days since before high-school (25 years ago).
I'm so tempted to just get in the water and swim easy but don't want to do anything stupid. Guess I just wondered if there are any others out there who survived an exercise lay-off and the resulting decrease in conditioning (and increase in crankiness). :)
Sounds awful!!! I hope you get better soon.
I was on bedrest for about half of my last pregnancy. Not that I would have been performing athletic feats, but I HATED it! Couldn't even walk around much. The days passed very slowly ... cranky from inactibity. You'll get through it. But don't risk your health. You'll be back in shape soon enough. Hang in there!
