    I guess my point is a USMS record implies the holder is a member of USMS. A National record would imply the record holder is at least a resident of the U.S. If you look in Appendix A of the rules book the records clearly say "USMS record." To drag this out even more Kirk: Is there a separate category called Master's National Records? I didn't think so & routinely interchange USMS Record and Master's National Record (or just national record when the context is clearly about master's swimming) in my conversations and writings. If there is a real, separate, category called US Master's National records, that are reserved just for US citizens, then I should be more careful in my description. In the non-master's context, a National Record would clearly mean something else...
