Women's Locker Room

Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.

BTW Jim, do you have any medical gadgetry that prevents the unlady like sight of snot slinging while swimming? Bring it!! I'm waiting!! Maybe he could surgically attach a small balloon at the end of one nostril to act as a kind of snot rocket depository ...
  • I tried out my first "tech suit", an Agon knee-length proback, and I absolutely love it. It was easy to put on and I consistently shaved an entire second from my 25 sprint time during practice this morning. One strange thing though, when kicking or swimming breaststroke, water was drawn up into my girl parts. I've never had this happen before (except when doing some kind of stupid cannonball or something that went awry while jumping into a pool). After I was done swimming, I expelled quite a bit of water from that area. I normally wear either a Speedo Endurance, or a Nike fitness suit, of the two, the Nike has a similar type of textile fabric to my knee suit, but it's a stretchier fabric and of course, doesn't cover my upper thighs. I'm thinking I should use a tampon whenever I wear my knee suit to keep this from happening. I don't think it's going to cause any issues, such as infection, but I didn't like "wetting" myself while drying my hair after my workout. :eeew: Is it just me (maybe my kick is way too wide, which is drawing the water up into my crotch), or has this happened to any of you gals?

Moody, I am not sure quite what the technological answer to your problem is, but I suspect that if I can figure it out, I might just be able to kill two dripping bird problems with one stone. Let me continue to ponder these topics, though I must say, there is probably a reason why men shouldn't enter the Women's Locker Room.
  • "mind the gap"! :D Ever since we were in London, my husband and I have been saying this for all sorts of things! I will never forget that nice recorded voice telling us to "mind the gap", as we stepped into the train...

I haven't had this happen, but I do find I need to really tuck the "normal" swimsuit seams into my groin/upper thigh, so the crotch of my kneeskin fits close to my girly bits. Otherwise I get a pool of water down there which may or may not enter  I have a short torso and long legs, so I always need to "mind the gap"!

I also do a full plee (ple-a from ballet) to get it all the way up there. It seems to help a bit.
  • Thank you, ladies (Louise, Elaine & Alison). Not "minding the gap" is most likely my problem. I hate having clothing of any kind tucked up tight against my "girly bits", so I am guilty of pulling the fabric away from this area after getting in the water. I'll be sure to do the opposite the next time I use my suit.
