Women's Locker Room

Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.

Oh, thanks so much. I didn't know you could wear something like that. Much appreciated.

Am I the first guy who has been in the Womens Locker room.??? I am sure that I am not the first. I just counted back and have found several. George... what the hell are YOU doing on this women's Locker Room thread?
  • I typically sandbag with an NT to protest the discrimination against fly-backers that exists. Never any rest between our events, and it sucks. I don't mind swimming with tall fast men in LCM. Sometimes not in SCM either. But this is my heat of the 100 back this weekend, and I am less than thrilled with it: 1 Stevenson, Chris M45 VMST 59.08 2 Britt, Clay M48 ANCM 1:02.00 3 Elshafei, Emad M43 TERR 1:04.84 4 Edson, Edward M28 TERR 1:07.00 5 Elliott, John M39 GERM 1:08.00 6 Jones, Andrew M45 NBAC 1:08.00 7 Kress, Jay M46 FXCM 1:13.00 8 Livingston, Leslie W48 GMUP 1:14.00 Also, of note, there is major female sandabagging going on as the female WR holder in your age group, Ahelee, is seeded at 1:17 when she swam a 1:09 at this meet last year ... So I get drowned by men while she has calm water for another record attempt. Hmm..... I seeded myself at the time I swam at this meet last year. WAIT A MINUTE... lets' get the names correct here! I don't even know what meet this is - or where its' located... must be some OTHER 50-54 backstroker you are dissing here Fort! Ha Ha! "Ahelee" has not sandbagged yet... I enter my best time. At times in the change of season - courses, the times may not have yet caught up and converted, but I do always enter my best.
  • Ladies, How do you feel about swimming mixed heats with the guys? Does the added turbulence bother you? Do you not notice it? Other thoughts? I don't notice it too much - although I practice with some large males in a pool with water level gutters and I notice it in practice far more than in meets. In meets, since everyone is in their own lanes, I don't notice it unless it isn't a fast pool and then, everyone has to deal with it. I would rather have good races and that often means I am in mixed heats. My hubby and I were in the same heat at last year's state meet for 2 longer events - 400 and 800 free and it was great to be able to pace with a training partner. We both had a pretty good sense of where we should be in the race and being able to see each other let us know how well we were doing. And besides, it amused our teammates to no end - we are not at all competitive with each other and some have a hard time understanding that. Funny aside, we both won our age groups in the 400 free, and figure we might be the only married couple to win the same event and swim in the same heat.
  • Oh crap--It's an 8 lane pool? Yes, it is. I'm in lane 8 in another event too, continuing my curse of the wall lanes. The prelim psych sheets may be revised somewhat. Jeff was working hard to process entries and finalize the psych sheet this morning. George, I don't think anyone cares. Plenty of other guys have crashed the party. Of course, you could always necro the Mens Locker Room thread. The backstroker is not Ahelee! Sorry, I meant that as an aside to you, Ahelee, not to name you. I'm going to seed at her time next year. She seems to seed at that time every year.

  • Not in my meet this year... -Rick Do you have a new rule against it? Or are you not discriminating against fly-backers this year? Think I've only done one NT in a Zones meet, and really only NT'd a handful of times ... And I'm not swimming at your meet this year. :thhbbb: In any event, now that I've discovered the world of split requests, I hope to use them more often to alleviate rest problems. Chris, Sandbagging is very prevalent in every meet, from WR holders on down. Sorry not to get to meet you at Warrenton.
  • I only wish I was fast enough that sandbagging was an option...
  • Are very many of you mad at me for entering the Women's Locker Room. I like to keep my eyes on things that go on here... Nobody's mad. We are all freethinkers. Although you might be asked to help jam some swimmers into tech suits.... :)

Don't worry, there's still plenty of sandbagging in that meet.
