Women's Locker Room

Here's a thread for the ladies to discuss anything that relates to women and swimming. For example, feel free to discuss how disgustingly ugly fastskins are, how the "curse" can kill a meet, how suits don't fit, how swimming wrecks your hair, how hormones unhinge you, etc.

  • If you figure it out, send me the recipe. We hide in the back of every meet and then avoid contact with our daughter if she doesn't get a PB. We have stopped telling her times or time standards and have taken to covering our faces when she comes over in full melt-down mode cause it is comical and you probably shouldn't laugh at your own kids while they are in nuclear mode. Sorry, I just feel your pain. I haven't enjoyed going to swim meets much lately because of the drama. I asked my kid about this phenomenon after recently scolding her for blowing things out of proportion. She says that "everyone" is upset/crying/pissed if they don't do a PB. I think all this perfectionism can lead to burn out. And poor sportsmanship. Don't age group coaches have a game plan for dealing with this?! Logical explanations (like swimming progress is not linear, progress is measured in tenths of seconds, PBs are for big meets) do not seem to penetrate the cranium at all.
