I am bored. The kids and hubby are still sleeping. We celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday so I would love to be able to go to the pool to swim. BUT nope it is closed on statutory holidays. The weather is pretty crappy. We have had a ton of rain. So I am in a whining boring mood. Guess I am becoming a swimmer. I miss it. Katie
  • O Canada! Happy Thanksgiving to our northern neighbors. Usually I am on the trails in New England today, rather than swimming in Lake Michigan in 86 deg air temps, but no matter; and there is always a nice mix of French and English on the trails. Signage in northern New England is increasingly bilingual, in a very natural way. Fastest hikers I ever met were a bicycling team from Montreal. Cheers, Katie! Maybe cross-training for today? VB

Of course we are giving thanks to our Southern friends in the States. Okay you asked for it :groovy:remember I am bored lol lol . Other se Origins of the Canadian Thanksgiving Canada is a beautiful country at any time of the year, but is particularly breathtaking in the fall when the Thanksgiving celebration occurs. In autumn, leaves turn spectacular colours - red, orange, yellow and brown and fall to the earth as trees prepare for winter. The leaves are so brilliant as to appear almost neon in colour! Children love to make leaf piles and jump in them. The air is cool and crisp. Everything seems sharper and clearer. The Canadian Thanksgiving is held the second Monday in October, unlike the American Thanksgiving, which falls in November. Some people believe this is because Canada, being farther north, has an earlier harvest. Others think that having Thanksgiving in November interfered with Remembrance Day, a day set apart each year on November 11th to remember those who died in wars. At any rate, deciding to have Thanksgiving in October when the weather is still warm enough for Canadians to enjoy the outdoors was a great idea! Thanksgiving in Canada provides an opportunity for Canadians to give thanks for having the good fortune to live in a bountiful, free country, and to celebrate that day by feasting with family and friends It i ttlers arrived and

If a vacation is coming up, you might consider building up your workouts before the break. By the time the vacation hits, you'll really want a break.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes. The day was beautiful. We got out and golfed just 9 holes with our neighbors. That was fun OH boy was swimming hard this morning. The entire Masters group struggled . We were all laughing about it. Too much good food and the odd beverage:wine: made it a tough swim today. Sure glad it is over LOL Katie
