Does anyone know of any studies that have been done to determine the percentage of swimmers who need shoulder surgery? It seems fairly common, but there I'm sure there are a lot more swimmers who escape it.

So many kinds of shoulder surgery. My sister Margeret had the tendon flip over the shoulder. The cut and moved back into the proper place. She went on to swim in many marathon races after that surgery.
