Let's just add to my misery having to swim indoors after a glorious summer of outdoor swimming--I walked into a box the first day of my vacation and fractured a bone under the baby toe. It hurt to do breaststroke and backstroke kicks but not that bad--fins actually helped stabilize my foot. I can't run (also run and play tennis) or walk or play tennis, or use stairmaster. Any one have this problem? Did you/would you continue to swim? I don't want to prolong the healing process but I WILL JUST LOSE IT if I can't even swim.

I've swum with a stress-fractured ankle and a broken toe without too much difficulty. I could wear fins with the broken toe too. I literally walked into my first masters "practice" with one of those nasty boots on and crutches, pissed off that I couldn't run. No problem swimming really. I just had to be a bit careful on turns, push-offs and kicking.
OUCH - did you have these injuries at the same time? I passed on the boot and have a post-op shoe which makes walking much easier - though it's higher than my regular left shoe (they should give you a mate even if it's a "blank")
How long did it take before you could run?
My daughter swam through a broken toe and even went to a big swim meet with it. And she's an evilstroker too. She buddy taped the broken toe.
I have mine taped but remove it when I swim. How does hers stay on?
I feel your pain on the summer thing. I love the dog days of August. I am already mourning the loss of summer. Although I get far more more serious workouts in when I swim indoors!
Yup, that is true - more serious for sure.
