I remember this discussion from an earlier time and one of the problems was that many of the pools that would be used for such an event are college pools and school would be in session during that time.
As an alternative, come to the SCM championships at Long Beach in December. It is a great pool although "old". I believe it was built for the '68 trials. We always have swimmers from other parts of the country swim at the meet. I think with a little encouragement, it could become a de-facto national meet.
