The USMS web site is mentioned in the September 2007 issue of Outside magazine! :groovy:
On page 44, they have a "How Fit Are You?" quiz. One of the questions has to do with how fast the quiz-taker can swim 500 yards. The quiz directions say: "...check your time against U.S. Masters Swimming records at usms.org."

google and see where usms shows up (really easy to do w/ firefox). the first instance i found was on the 7th page of hits.
the swimming page at wikipedia, in the links section (at the bottom of the page), includes links to skinny dipping and TI, but no USMS.
go figure.
