I had a hernia operation two days ago. Ouch.
I asked the surgeon when can I get back to the pool and he said in a month. This seemed a bit draconian and I thought he was covering his :mooning:
I asked a nurse and she said two weeks which seems reasonable.
I wanted to ask: do any of you guys have experience returning to swimming after a hernia operation? Any tips for me?
Thanks in advance.

I had an abdominal hernia repaired by traditional surgery. Laproscopy was out of the question. Before the operation, the surgeon had a long talk with me about recovery. I had to promise to remain inactive for 3 months post surgery. The entire surgical team was very serious about it. All I could do was walk. No exercise. According to them, many patients resume activity too soon and rip open the repair.
One month is not the end of the world. I'd play it safe.
