Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot: If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.

What's an endocrinologist anyway? I can't bebohered to look it up... Is it someone that studies the ends of Crins?

I just told you that Spitz already tried. It's not like no one hasn't tried. I read elsewhere that Spitz's attempt was not very serious, and if he had gone for a training plan like Dara's I would expect that we would have heard that. Do we know much about his comeback training methods? Also, re read my post. I said "..... at her age". I didn't say all women worldwide. So you aren't just questioning why she's better than the younger women but also questioning that she's better than other 41 year olds? Are there any other 41 year olds that are training at the same level?

I'm glad we have at least one person on this forum devoted full-time to reminding us that Dara Torres is dating an endocrinologist. Keep us posted!

I am lost in your logic......3 World Records in the 80's yet because she didn't get a medal in the Olympics she was "not as great"? You still haven't answered the question of what you consider to be ownership of an event? A world record doesn't add up to your standards of excellence?

That's what I can't figure out. Why is Dara/Dara's entourage the only ones who've figured out the winning formula? What about the rest of the coaching brain trust worldwide? Another way to look at this is: Is she the only one to have figured out a secret PED that passes all tests so easily that she is willing to have blood taken regularly for storage as tests advance? The formula is so good that she has the kahunas to dare the world to catch her? Or is this the secret formula developed by the men sprinters GHJ says are cheating? If she has a PED that good and so undetectable then cycling, track, swimming and any similar sport is in big trouble.

According to the New York Times latest article, Dara is actually with “partner” David Hoffman - a reproductive endocrinologist. This sounds very fishy. An endocrinologist ...

Lindsay, I just told you that Spitz already tried. It's not like no one hasn't tried. Also, re read my post. I said "..... at her age". I didn't say all women worldwide. tjburk, You are correct. I brought up the comparison in my earlier post trying to explain to you that Dara was not of the stature that these women were in the 1980s. These women "owned" their events. Dara was undoubtedly fast, but did not reach the level of dominance they displayed. I'm sorry, but Dara's speed and prominence is largely shown from 2000 onward. Her previous career in the 1980s and early '90s was outstanding..... but not as great as 2000 onward. I have heard that rumor that her friend is an endocrinologist. This just doesn't sit well with all the suspicion. John Smith

Why is she now clearly the undisputed best female physical specimen for swimming on the planet at her age? Your American bias is showing, despite the new AR she is still ranked 5th this year worldwide, same as before trials. Does the fact that she was setting WRs while not medaling at the Olympics indicate she wasn't attaining her full potential? Has she perhaps improved in this regard with experience? Has anyone else of similar talent tried Dara's training program? If no one else has even tried to do what she has then it isn't too surprising that no one else has accomplished what she has is it? Maybe she is, maybe she isn't, but the argument that no one else has done it before is a little weak if no one else has tried. On the other side, some asked what more can she do to prove her innocence? Documenting her training and perhaps helping duplicate it with someone else would be one approach.

There are twice as many guests in here than members. You're right Tracy. A WR implies ownership of an event.
