Has anyone else seen the movie Pride?
It's about swim coach Jim Ellis and the Philadelphia Department of Recreation (PDR) swim team. I finally saw it last night and thought it was tremendous - :applaud: - but I was also curious to know what everyone else thought.
My wife and I watched it with my kids. We mostly enjoyed it. Plot was very predictable...swimming technique...um...a bit odd...events unfolded somewhat unrealistically, especially at the end.

...some tough critics here (wow)...
The film was a revelation to me. I started year-round swimming as a 12-year-old in the Delaware Valley, and we participated in meets in the Philadelphia area. I remember PDR, but not because I thought of them any differently than any other teams. There were one or two boys from PDR who were doing well in my age group at the time. I also remember the team more recently from when I was coaching in the area (mid-late '90's). Until I saw the movie, I had no idea what Jim Ellis had done, aside from coaching an excellent team that appeared to be more diverse than the others.
BTW, sorry I missed the earlier thread - I don't get here too often these days.
