  • Wow, It appears that somebody might clean up on some of Chris' backstroke records!!! Oh, I have always understood that any backstroke records I set can last, at best, until Mike Ross ages up. He'll break 50.0 in the 100 back and break 1:40 in the 200 free; he's a very fast man. Even so, I didn't expect him to go quite that fast. His first 100 split would almost certainly beat everyone else in the 100. His 200 time was faster than the old 35-39 record (set by Karnaugh, no piker)...except THAT record was broken with a 1:47.7, the fastest ever masters time in the 200 back. Poor Duane Dobko snuck under a very tough national record...and gets beat by 2 seconds! Besides the Smith v Smith showdown, the 40-44 50 free race will be interesting: Mike Ross vs Shaun Jordan. It's a fast heat, too: the slowest entry is 22.1. The 400IM race in 40-44 was very fast. 4:23 got 6th place? That time would have been in the thick of the race for first at many other nationals meets.
