Ground Fault Interrupt (GFI's) outlets are usually required (building code) most anywhere water is present (bathrooms, near sinks, and of course swimming pool locker rooms and decks). This example gives you a reason GFI's don't necessary make electrical outlets safe. Chlorine in the air accelerates corrosion and GFI's are no exception. One of my lifeguard was teaching and put his foot on the wall, brushing it on an electrial outlet. He was shocked, fell and knocked silly (he was okay but taken to the hospital). The GFI's were tested on the pool deck and most did not work due to corrosion. They need to be checked and of course replaced when defective. Be careful my friends.
