I just read this story in the Seattle Times: seattletimes.nwsource.com/.../2003752165_andrewhsu18m.html
Here's the beginning of the article:
Andrew Hsu has not yet been on a date or taken his driving test.
But he does have three degrees — in neurobiology, biochemistry and chemistry. This month, just weeks after his 16th birthday, Hsu became the second-youngest person to graduate from the University of Washington, and the youngest with a triple degree. Starting this summer, he plans to begin his doctoral research into brain function at Stanford University's medical school.
Anyway, there's a quote later on suggesting he's a swimmer. Lo and behold, I checked the USA Swimming database and he's a very good swimmer! I can't find any times listed more recent than 2004, but he was very fast as a 12 year old (54.7 100 free, 1:00.7 100 back, 1:10 100 ***, 59.1 100 fly, 2:09.7 200 IM). These are great times! I suspect he hasn't competed recently due to being in college, but man, pretty amazing.
Hopefully he makes some use of the swimming facilities at Stanford while he's there. He's still got two more years before he can compete masters, though. By then he'll almost have his doctorate.
