Grudge Races, Part 2

Blackbeard/Muppet/Jeff is hosting the Terrapin Cup on July 1. There will be at least one grudge race. Others can join in. Grudge Race #1: Blackbeard/Muppet vs. Fortress in the 50 meter fly LC Handicap: Blackbeard gives Fort 2 seconds, one for each decade. (Blackbeard 25-29; Fort 45-49) Fur: Blackbeard goes full fur. Fort wears a worn out Fastskin II. Blackbeard profile: Been training like a demon. Just swam the 4.4 mile bay swim in an hour and half. Recently developed a hankering for the 50 fly. May hurt himself in advance playing hockey. May be distracted hosting the meet and making sure everything runs well. May still be drinking too much tequila after Dave Barra paid up from grudge race, part 1. Has home field advantage and endurance advantage. Fort profile: Sketchy training. Sketchy left shoulder. Monofin injury. But won't be swimming any distance free beforehand. Could suffer mommy guilt from skipping Mini-Fort's meet that morning. Likely will not have much sleep the night before. Will compensate with caffeine or guzzle red bulls like Jim Clemmons. Cruise will likely note that there is a risk that Fort will skip the meet and go shopping. Place your bets or join in. (Julie: I'll take you on too in that 50 back again if you want. But I'm assuming without my SDK edge in LC, I'd get smoked.)

  • i didn't do the 50 last year. if i'm remembering correctly, the order of event sucked for me. and the terp cup was a cruddy meet for me- i had just moved down to DC the week before and i was still sore. and trying to adjust... i went 35.59 at DCRP's meet, 35.50 at zones, and 34.53 at worlds. if that helps. :) If I recall in my senility (no excel spreadsheets), I went a 34.7 or .8 at the terp cup last year and a 34.8 at worlds with a blown finish? So we'll have a good race. But with your latest performance at Nats ... Maybe I'll just stand and :cheerleader: for you and Muppet. Can you cheer for someone you're having a grudge race with? Muppet clearly won't be in the same heat as me. So I guess you're not the jealous type then? This is good. I need some motivation. I've been lacking some mojo lately with too few meets. (I did send in my USA-S registration so all the 14 year olds can laugh at me. Wally is really glad to have some company aside from Jeff. ;))
