Who all is going to the meet in betonville, arkansas? Is anyone else besides me going from arkansas? I hope that I'm not the only person going. I will also be at the swim meet in dallas, texas July 20-21.
Sincerely, Swimminggirl
I'm not able to practice due to a torn muscle in my shoulders due to over doing it at the swim meet and training 5 days a week.
Signed, Swimminggirl p.s. Advice would be appreciated!
Swimminggirl,
Sorry to hear about the torn shoulder muscles. The first thing I'd suggest would be to let your shoulders heal completely. Earlier you mentioned running, you might be able to run while you're shoulders are getting better (I'd consult the advise of your family doctor first). Once your shoulders get better to where you can start some rehab exercises then I'd say focus on drill work in the pool. I don't think enough can be said about how far excellent technique will take you, and drill work is best done when your not trying to "build the engine". Finally, if you have access to a swim coach then have them look at your stroke and point out corrections. If you can get videotaped then that can help, even if it's above water (underwater is awesome, but not easy to have done).
Look up exercises for the rotator cuff and muscles that help stablize the shoulder. That's about all I can think of. Again, check with your coach and doctor first.
