I've been an avid fan of Speedo's one-piece goggle, "Ultravision" and found out when my faves broke that they discontinued them... :-(
Anyone have a brand & style that they like and would recommend? I'm hoping to find ones that are good for swimming outside (the glare of the white bottom pool was killing me yesterday, even with my "smoke" colored goggles).
Also, I recently purchased a kickboard from Speedo and found it to be too flimsy in the water. Suggestions?
Thanks everyone! I'm new to these boards and all of your posts have been really, really helpful. :-)
Very best,
Rebecca

Lose the board? After a slight adjustment period I find I like kicking without a board most
of the time.

I've never been able to wear those 1-piece goggles and have them work correctly. It seems one goggle would be ok, the other leaked, etc.
Anyway, I've worn the TYR Racetech for about 10 years now, and won't wear anything else. I wear regular smoke for winter, and the metallized for summer. Yes, even at 6am there's enough sun that you need tinted goggles here in AZ in the summer. The metallized version isn't cheap, about $16, but worth every penny.
I'm pretty flexible on kickboards. I lug a gear bag with paddles, a pull bouy, and zoomers (I don't use them that often), but I can take or leave the kickboard. Many times I'll just skull with my hands and kick. If we have kickboards in the team basket and we're doing a longer kick set, I'll use one.
Hi-
Speedo Hydrospex or TYR X-Flex... they both are one piece goggles and have the mirrored lenses available.
I agree with the above post... lose the kickboard. I've grown to love kicking on my back... and I haven't looked back since!
I used to wear those Ultravision goggles but switched. Right now I'm using a Speedo Jr Hydrospex with a silicone gasket. They last longer and don't give rashes due to "alligatored" neoprene after a while. The anti-fog also seems better and there is less leakage.
Kicking WITHOUT kickboards ? Heresy ... how else could you visit with your teammates while doing a "social kick" ? The Ocean Pool "KickA Board" foam kickboard I bought about 30 years ago (!!) is still doing great; and nobody would steal it with a name like that. I think they went out of business years ago. Other kickboards I've bought lasted less than a year.

For me there's no such thing as a "social kick". Even if I was inclined to chat while I kicked, I'm generally so much slower than everyone else that I either couldn't keep up or would be so out of breath I could at best listen, not talk.
