Your Favorite Course

OK, folks, we're officially switching over from SCY to LCM season this week. What is your favorite POOL course? Short Course Yards, Short Course Meters, or Long Course Meters??? Feel free to explain your reasoning!
  • If I had to pick from the pool options, it would be SCY. I definitely prefer open water. I've been in a pool twice in the last three weeks. Open water definitely rules! Julie
  • OK I am officially sick of SCY.:dedhorse::dedhorse: I need me a long pool!!! :frustrated::frustrated::whiteflag:
  • I'll take my wildlife in a zoo, thank you very much! Wildwood is not a favorite shore town, but I'll watch the weather and if it's nice maybe my arm can be twisted... Dana :cheerleader: I will be watching out for you, Dana! Hope you can make it to Wildwood! Swimmy :cheerleader:
  • Sorry you missed Wildwood. It was very rough, so I hope it is better this weekend. I will be there. It was not cold. Be tough! I may have a higher tolerance for cold than you, but I am not even taking my wetsuit. Last year I think it was only 60 degrees. It was warmer than that last weekend. Seeya soon! Swimmy :)

:cheerleader: I will be watching out for you, Dana! Hope you can make it to Wildwood! Swimmy :cheerleader: Sorry Swimmie- Didn't make Wildwood. Had to leave Ocean City for the kids' meet at 05:30 that morning. Comin gback for the ocean swim :notworking:. I will be swimming Ocean City on the 21st. It will be a busy day--kids last meet of the summer (rival team to boot!) and then the OC caravan departs. I just hope the water warms up (currently in the 60s...brrrrrr) cause I don't do wetsuits! See you there?

Open Water since it's all I have, but when I had access to pools, it was LCM all the way!! Easier to build momentum without so many turns!

Thanks Swimmy! It was great to see you too! This swim was the best social swim in years. Every time I tried to find my daughter at the start (she also swam--her first OW swim!) I ran into someone else I knew. Bizarre, usually I don't know anyone at these things who didn't come with me. Thankfully, the water was not too cold. Could have done without the breakers mid-course though. I'll see you at zones. Don't forget the pom-poms! Dana
  • The pool I grew up in was 33.3M long. The pool I grew up swimming in was 33.3 meters as well. I also trained one summer in a 37.5 meter pool. I've never done so many 300s in my life.
  • The pool I grew up in was 33.3M long. Hornchurch Swimming Pool, Harrow Lodge Park. It's been modernised now. It never looked quite so state of the art but it was a great pool. I swim in a pool like this in Frederick MD during the summer. 30m X 30m. Built by soldiers. LCM is not my favorite course although it is important, of course. The more turns the better. I wish I was a millionaire--I'd build a 50m pool here.
