OK, folks, we're officially switching over from SCY to LCM season this week. What is your favorite POOL course?
Short Course Yards, Short Course Meters, or Long Course Meters???
Feel free to explain your reasoning!
How come you didn't offer dessert or inter
as choices for our favorite course?
Just curious,
AH
as far as pools go, I prefer short course yards, the pain is over sooner.
Funny you should ask... I received quite a few PMs asking the same question ;)
:cheerleader:I don't really have a favorite, but:
We train LCM all year long, but only do one or two meets per year, so I like to swim long course meets because it makes the training feel worthwhile.
I like to train SCY because the pool feels so short after all the LCM training. Unfortunately, it doesn't help me swim any faster. Eight laps for a 200 sucks too, as SwimStud will attest. SCM only has a few meets in our area, but since few people swim it, I tend to make a top 10 here and there, so that's always fun!
Sorry Swimmy--I'm a chlorine girl! Only swim with the fishes once a year and that is plenty enough for me.

Maybe we can meet up at the OC race this year. The Dolphin Swim in Wildwood is the week before....Come on, I know you want to come over to the dark side....Wildlife makes it more exciting....

All of the above! Where there's water, there's swimming... it's all good.:groovy:
My experience and its ups and downs:
SCY: this is my usual venue, since my Y is less than a mile from where I live, and it works well enough, unless the lanes are very crowded with swimmers not in sync w/ one another's speed choices. Also it takes me the least amount of time to complete a length.
LCM: had only one experience with this... the plus side: it was outdoors and I don't often get to swim in outdoor long course pools... felt closer to nature... but wondered how many hours it would take to reach the other side ;) --and after doing a bunch of fifties in practice and getting my times down, the LCM 50 was very, very humbling.
Open water: Love open water although it's kind of a challenge to swim straight there--enjoy the variety of conditions... None of the "lane politics" of my daily swims... but of course one does need to be careful in race starts....
Haven't dealt w/ SCM, so can't comment there
All the pools are metric in Istanbul and I would like to try a SCY pool. I prefer LCM throughout the year (I am so lucky to have one very close to my home).
hands down, without a question, LCM!
SCY and SCM drive me nuts, because about the time i get into a good solid rhthym, it's time to turn. and i don't have the best breakouts, so the less turns, the better.
LCM,LCM,LCM:bouncing::bouncing::bouncing:.LCM is for swimmers,SCY is for turners.Open Water would be OK if they had sprint breaststroke events.A 100 M breaststroke without turns would be GREAT.:applaud:
