At 10:00 a.m. CDT this morning tickets for the swimming olympic trials in Omaha, NE went on sale. I just got my "gold" package for all 15 sessions.
I went to Long Beach in '04 and had a fantastic time. One highlight was a daily low key morning workout with masters from all over the country, big group breakfast afterward and then head over to prelims. Anyone know about pool resources in Omaha? It's never too early to line this stuff up.
Omaha is a small enough town that the event (right in the heart of downtown) will have a huge presence. Swimmers, coaches, fans everywhere.
Hope some of you can make it.

Omaha just doesn't sound that appealing. I really missed the boat by not going when they were in Long Beach in 2004. That would have been a blast! I love outdoor meets.
Actually Peter, not a bad idea. If we can find an appropriate venue, I'd volunteer to conduct a dryland clinic. Bring a doctor's note and a waiver!

Rich- so it was a 'low-key' masters workout. So, are you telling us you didn't sneak in...just a little bit more exercise during that time?

Rich- so no stairs, weights, plyometrics etc.?

I got my tickets today, thanks to one of my fellow swimmers! She is going the first half of the week, and I am going the last half.
Yes, Geek, they have an airport in Omaha. It is also a two-hour drive from Des Moines, Iowa, or three hours from Kansas City (my home).
Omaha is a great town. They're excited about hosting the Trials :cheerleader: and they'll probably have all sorts of activities for the visitors. I have heard that Warren Buffet has been involved in the planning (he lives in Omaha).
There are at least two Masters groups in Omaha. As the event approaches, I'll contact them about the possibility of workouts. That could be a lot of fun.

I was in L.B. and did the workout/breakfast also. It was a great time. I know Omaha doesn't sound that great but yes Geek they do have air service. They are hoping to get indoor plumbing prior to 2008.
I highly recommend going regardless of the location. It was an experience that I would do again. I am sure a healthy contingency of USMSers will be there, workouts and connecting should be a kick...

Since I won't be there, I feel that I can safely encourage Rich to conduct a daily dryland clinic at Trials. Imagine all the spectators at the meet wondering why this group are all hunched over and moaning piteously in the stands. I herebye nominate Paul 'Too Tall' Smith to be demonstration subject for all exercises, esp. 30lb medicine ball gut reflex drop.
