EVF - vertical in which plane(s)?

So I've been trying to figure out this early vertical forearm and it occurred to me that your forearm can be vertical in two different planes: sagittal (parallel to the midline) and transverse (parallel to the plane your belt lives in). So, am I supposed to get my forearm vertical in one plane or the other or both? Thx, Skip Montanaro

In the drawings and in some posts here it is implied that you bring your forearm and hand all the way around without even a hint of pointing your hand towards the center. Something George said about no S, just an I. Well I've been doing exactly that and so far it feels okay. I would want more input on this as it seems in the videos of the champs that they do start a small S. Another thing, today I was goofing off at the pool and I had just seen that drawing from the paddle commercial and I tried a straight down butterfly arm motion without any S or ampule form. I didn't even mess with my hand after entry. I just pulled straight back, no curve, no sculling. Anyone tried that? billy fanstone
