I've been on a swim team for a month and have been to three swim meets and have come in third place in all of my events. I need help with improving my time and speed. Also, I need help with the flipturn. I also have started training for nationals next year. I run 3 miles a day and train in the gym and I go to a physical therapists as I have had to have 2 neck surgers in the past 3 yrs. I'm loving swimming and, I get so excied when it comes time to compete. If any of yall have advice or training advice for me I would appreciate it. I do have a coach I work with 4 times a week. Sincerely, Swimminggirl

Glad you are no longer in the hospital. As for the apologies, what precisely are we to apologize for? Being critical of somebody using steroids?

No yall owe me an apology for saying all the rude things you did. My fiance agrees that you all owe me an apology. I was really upset when I got back and saw how rude and mean that yall had all been towards me. Signed, Swimminggirl

This is the funniest thread I have seen around here in some time.
  • This is quickly becoming one of the strangest threads ever.

I think you should 'fess up and come clean (as it were). Either you have a huge problem with the truth or you are a terrible typist. I was giving you the benefit of the doubt, but your steroid comment really pushed me over the edge. You stated on several posts that your 50 Free time was 25 secs flat. You know this is not true and then your times you posted for the 100 Free and 200 Free are also way off. I think you said your 200 Free time was 2:38 or so. From all of my experience, everyone on this board is helpful and wants to support each other. It is a little hard to swallow when someone asks if the times you post are correct and you don't answer, correct yourself or edit the thread. Then you say you are on steriods without any explanation. I don't know anything about performance enhancing drugs, but if your MD prescribes them your fellow swimmers deserve an explanation. After all, performance enhancing drugs are cheating!

When anyone cuts their 50 LCM freestyle time by more than half (from 1':00" to 25") in so short a time, there's a toll to pay: it adds a year to your age. Lately when I cut mine by a 1", I aged a full year. I think I might be willing to pay the price. After all, before I started dyeing my hair and wearing a cap, I got invited (sincerely, even) to join the Silver Streaks club, so what's another year to this 38 year old who apparently looks over 50? Heck, if I was willing to age up 2 years, I might actually have a competitive time.
  • I'm 21 almost 22. Yes, I used to swim competivetly as a child. I have practice tonight. I run 3-4 miles everyday. I will have my coach time me tonight. I will get a copy of the workout also. Sincerely, Swimminggirl p.s. I need all the advice and help I can get. From the "I'm engaged" thread: I'm 22 going on 23. My fiance and I were just talking about the reception and have agreed to have an open bar. Odd how she aged up so fast in a few weeks!! :dunno: Alison
  • I don't think anyone was "rude and mean," given the odd stuff we have read. I think it's a good idea to live together before marriage at your young age. I also think it was a good idea to get off steroids and whatever else you were on and off. This is also supposed to be as SR thread. We ended the topic poll discussions previously. So we would be happy to read about your swimming progress after you are healthy and drug free again. And yall is not a word.

This whole thing is starting to resemble my favorite childhood sandwich...swiss cheese.
