Hey all you BR freakzzz. I was just looking over the info for the USMS LC Nationals at the Woodlands and am amazed to find that events number 17 and 18 are the men's and women's 1000 BR. For all of us with a hankering to do something out of the ordinary, this is our opportunity. Short of going to the land of OZ, we may never have another chance! I'm there.... What about you Mr. USMS Webmaster? -- mel

Apart from when I get tummy viruses before meets... :joker:

Yeah, but was that in competition? Anybody can do it in a workout, even with a bad tummy.

Yeah, but was that in competition? Does trying to show off to the lifeguards count?

I'm up for that event also, but I don't think they'll let us swim it. I guess if I kept on swimming after 2 lengths of the pool, someone might jump in and forcibly remove me from the venue. I should have known that something was wrong when they didn't offer the 2000 BR the next day! Guess I'll have to go to Australia after all.
  • Since the 100 LCM BR is THE best event in Masters Swimming I don't want it replaced with a 1000. If they want to require all events over 200 to be swum breaststroke thats fine, just don't take away the 100 BR.

I just saw that Mel and I was going to start a thread. Glad you beat me to it! My question was going to be which of you crazy B-strokers was going to sign up for it & what the NQT was for the event. You never know, I may qualify:rofl: .

My only complaint with the free swimmers, when it comes to top ten times, is they get the 50 100 200 400 1000 1500 basically the same yds. I would love to swim a 400 meter *** or 500 yd ***. So when it comes to totaltop tens free swimmers have the atvantage of more possible events.

Why don't you just enter the 800 (or 1500) free and do breaststroke? Actually, the first 2 1650 swims I ever did at nationals were BR. However, now that I'm able to swim freestyle I do the distance swims FR but I still feel the need for a distance event that caters to my BR. -- mel
