Maybe not many SCM pools in the US.
  • I haven't gotten thru both genders and all the age groups so I'm just speculating based on your statement. I think a lot of US masters swimmers took the rest of the year off after World's. Some are still out....Our SCY meets were slightly smaller this year than average I believe. Well, I didn't do a thorough analysis either. I don't know that many people that took the rest of the year off, but I'm sure there must be some non-addicts. As to the pools, George, that might be an issue. But any 50 meter pool can easily be bulkheaded to 25 meters. Good college pools seem to fit the bill. We definitely don't seem to have as many SCM meets in my area. There are more SCY meets. That's why I was speculating that that might be the cause. Jeff, you go on those IMs! Who wants to just watch the 50 free? When Ande ages up to Evil and Paul Smith's 45-49 age group, the competition will get really fierce. It's also a little ridiculous how far ahead of the competition Laura Val is. Impressive!
  • The standard for the world is always meters only yards in the USA. Good point George. If we stop for a second and think how many SCYards meets we have, the rest of the world is probably doing that same number SCMeters.
  • Jim Clemmons 200 *** SCM 2:50.89 Jim Clemmons 200 *** LCM 2:50.48 impressive!!! :notworthy: :dedhorse:
  • ... and quite a few good meets (and results) demonstrated in the European SCM pools are not included into Top Ten. ... and quite a few good meets (and results) demonstrated in the United States SCM pools are not included into Top Ten. This happens to (S)he-Man practically every year. Results get thrown out for improper measurements or failure to submit the data or other reasons. Thanks Jim, just don't give me any crap for the 50 free like certain others. I never swam it in SCM.
  • Fortress, You are going to have to make a point to swim the 50m free. A long forum debate before your time, determined the 50 free to be the "top of the pecking-order event", above all others. At least that's how I saw it..... Ian. BTW, did you check out Dmitri's great SCM 50 time in the 45's? Must be all those Popov lessons. Congratulations to him too! I just swam it in YARDS last weekend. I think it's growing on me. I'm even trying to fall in love with the 100 free. Congrats to Dimitri!! Congrast to you too, Ian! I can see why you love those 50 frees. You're smokin' fast. Maybe you should try backstroke?

Congrats to Fortress for making the top 10 in the SCM 50 back and the SCM 50 fly! If I missed any others I apologize Fort! Bork
