Pacific Champs

Today ended the Pacific Championships. It was supposed to rain all weekend and it was really cold. However, not a drop during the meet, just all night Saturday night and relentless wind (at least at my house!). There were several amazing swims. Laura Val continued to be her fast self, as well as Jim Clemmons. I don't know how many records they broke. My teammate Dikan Rendic went 23.3 in his 50 fly setting a new Pac record! Another teammate swam with a broken rib (from riding his kids' skateboard!). Quinn Fitzgerald, the pup, went 1:42 in his 200 free. Kerry O'Brien even split his 200 fly!!! And lastly, my hubby did very well considering he is not training (well, maybe once a week for the last three months). I forget how talented he is. He just entered the meet to spend the weekend with me :) Aw, I'm getting all weepy! He really did well though. I'm proud of him. We did learn something new. His sprints suffer significantly more from lack of training than the 200's and 400IM! :p And can you believe it, another 911 call! I tell ya', I don't think Walnut Creek should host this meet anymore :( We lost Brendon Wen two years ago, last year *** Smith had a heart attack, and today Margery Meyer's arm and legs went numb after her 100 back! She ended up being just fine, but alas, another 911! (All of our prayers were/are with you Margery). Oh, and how could I forget!, her daughter Marguerite, had a great meet too. Way to go Marguerite :) Besides Margery scaring all of us, the meet was really well run. Over at reasonable times all three days (3:00ish). Considering it's the second largest meet in the country, that's saying something! And thanks to all of the officials, volunteers, and Dan Corrigan (computer guy) for doing such a great job. We know these meets would not go on if it weren't for them. And congratulations to USF for taking back the crown. They beat us (WCM) by 39 points. Considering they had 150 more entries than us, we did all right :)

  • Kari had an amazing meet! I can't believe I didn't mention it before. I'm so ashamed :shakeshead: Kari dropped almost a minute in her mile, dropped at least 30 seconds in the 1000, and did a PB in the 500 (but I don't remember how much she dropped)-She was a very happy camper. And, for the gentlemen, I must say she did look stunning in her parka, boots, and sunglasses ;) It was SOOOO cold! Thanks for watching my races. You are so sweet. :) But, it's really NOT necessary to post pictures... How much do you want for the pictures?!? You guys beat TOC? WOW. That's awesome! Congratulations :) And, BTW, we never did finish that conversation... we need to do that. :blah: Way to go Kari. All of your training is paying (has paid) off :smooch: I'm proud of you!
