Diffence in pools

Interesting. I can swim at the "Y" and go easy pace non stop 1000yds At the High School I went 300yds non- stop and thought I wasn't going to make it. It was hard. I thought I was going at an easy pace. Maybe I was going faster than I thought. But it was like that last week when we did 2 x 200 about 1 min rest maybe little more. Pool stats: "Y" - 25yds, 3 ft shallow 8 ft. deep temperature 86 degrees 6 lanes 'HS" 25 yds. 4 ft shallow 12ft deep temperature 82 degress maybe abit lower. 6 lanes Why??? Could be a science experiment. I know my workouts are harder at the HS because I'm being Coached, it's a faster sets and less rest between set. I like it at the HS, because I know once I get use to the fast pace it will hopefully make my times better. Plus...I love it when I can beat the fastest 12yrs old on his team that swims next to me or sometimes we share the lane - the lane for the "fast" 12yrs.olds.

Are there any other variables? Example: H.S. workouts in evening, Y swimming in a.m.? What about the day of the week? Differences in your diet? Do the Y workouts come after a rest or recovery day? What about the H.S.? After more than 1-2 day break? Are you maintaining the same pace at both pools? What about sharing lanes? Are you more crowded at the H.S. with a lane to yourself at the Y? Is your warm up routine the same or different? These are all things that will affect how you feel in the water.
