Now that XC ski season is over I can really concentrate on swimming. I passed the 100 mi milestone at the end of March and am on track for 50+ miles in April. Gotta get ready for those distance events at Federal Way!

Here's a brief summary of how folks did in March for "Going the Distance"!!
There were 3 that crossed the "250 mile" threshold last month. Looks like maybe we should have an Extreme GTD category!! Any guesses on how far they will go by the end of the year!?!?!?
There were also 48 participants who reached the "100 Miles" distance milestone. Geesshhh .... there is a lot of swimming going on these days!
But the big number is the 76 swimmers that achieved the "50 miles" distance milestone last month - wooo hooo! I really hope they enjoy the feeling - because for some reason the first 50 miles are some of the sweetest ....
Dom - your awards and T-shirt were dropped off at the post office today!
I sure hope you all are having fun! The results should be available soon.

Hi there Dom,
I am not involved in Go the Distance program, but I am doing my share. I am up to 21 miles each week now and will be adding another half-mile daily later this week! :groovy:

Like Kirk, I have increased my miles each month as well. And fell just short of my first 50 by the end of March. I have hit that mark now, and have probalby hit my monthly consistent distance as well.
Mary, I for sure am enjoying the feel of the swimming I have been doing, and know that GTD has been the tool that has gotten me to be a consistent three times a week swimmer.

I would find it useful if people besides referring to the number of miles they've covered, could also give some idea of number of days per week they swim and number of yards/meters they swim on average.
Thanks,
Skip

I swim 4 or 5 days per week. Most of these workouts are around 5,000 yards with usually one per week being shorter (~3,500).
I swim 7 workouts per week but 2 are on Tuesday. Stroke days Tues/Thurs each workout is between 3500/4000. Mon/Wed is 4000/4500. Then Fri/Sat we do long course 4000/4500. The workouts are usually less than these amounts but I tend to get in about 5-10 min early and stay a little late some times. I have even been know to swim a few relays with the GCAT kids team.
With my taper coming up toward the end of this month I will cut back a bit on the yardage but not too much. Since I cut out the biking I need to make sure I don't gain any of the weight I recently lost back. Since October it has been about 15 lbs.
