Things to do in the water other than "just swim laps"

Here are some things I'm particularly enjoying: -- doing a deep dive off the board, trying to touch then bottom, and then dolphin kicking back to the surface -- doing a bunch of flip turns in a row "on the spot" in the water, rather than off the wall -- anything involving attempting to recover an object (e.g. brick) -- anything involving a pole What are your little quirky things? Or is everyone here so busy training that no one has any fun in the water?

After hours lifeguarding activities were fun back in the day. When we were bored, we'd all pile on the waterslides and go down at the same time. We'd also use towels as capes and plungers as weapons and leap, like superheros, off the diving boards. There is an example of the latter activity in my profile picture. Not me, the cute guy guards. Then, there was some late night skinny dipping. I'm sure all these activities must still be engaged in today. We pull down the big styrofoam surf board and jump off the diving board running at full speed, the see how far we can ride it. Try and run across the pool covers...I could only ever make it 3/4 of the way across. Pull out all the bouncy balls and use the guard tubes to play baseball. We'd also stack as much stuff as we could find in the deep so we could stand on it and not have to tread water. (It takes a tot dock, and 3 chairs for a 6'5" guy to stand with his head and shoulders above the water...12 feet.)
