So, I watched some of the Australia meet events tonight and I have a question concerning breastroke.
I watched in slow-mo about 10 times and I swear the breastrokers are taking two dolphin kicks on the dive entry before the now-legal one big dolphin kick. Is this now legal also, the two small little dolphin kicks?
Leo:
I'm sure it would not be easy to implement. Egad. But is there any thought to moving in this direction? At least for big meets. Otherwise, we have blatant cheating at a world championship? I like SS's idea above of "random camera testing" for other meets.
Kyra:
I'm not that worried about a rule making it "harder" on breaststrokers. Is it supposed to be "easier?" I didn't think so. I was suggesting something that, if cameras aren't an option, would put the hurt on the cheater dolphin kicks. (And why should breaststrokers be allowed to go further than the 15 meters alloted other strokers anyway?) It just seems manifestly unfair that some cheating breaststrokers completely ignore rules while other swimmers comply with all the rules because violations can be more easily detected or they just play fair. Pretty big loophole here. I mean, I'd like to do one handed turns on fly or flip over on my stomach in the 100 IM on the back-*** turn rather than learning the correct rollover flip ...
