1 minute 43.86 seconds. Other records too.
  • Jim I think you are mentally impaired, but that's just me ... and stuff happens, a bad injury or illness at the wrong time and Phelps might not be up to snuff ... I can't wait to see what he brings to the table in Beijing though, I will schedule my life around the Olympics for those 8 days ...

Heather: You are correct that Jenny has a total of 12 Medals from the 4 Olympics and with that is the total leader of all time for swimming. A lot of people get confused because somehow they think she swam the prelims of the 800 Free Relay in 2004 and had swam that event in the previous two Olympics (1996, 2000) and that is why they come up with 13 total medals. She passed both Mark Spitz and Matt Biondi and they had totaled 11 medals in there Olympic careers. Something tells me that Michael is going to be the all time leader after 2008. I don't know Skip....I think you may be really going out on a long limb this time with that prediction LOL!! :thhbbb: (obviously joking here...I would have to either be totally insane or severely mentally impaired to be serious about that remark!) Newmastersswimmer

LOL - is she holding out hope that you fail out???? :joker: haha, she doesn't think Bejing should be on my list of places to see before I die...which it isn't...Plus my moms kinda self-absorbed...if she's gonna shell out major money, we gotta go somewhere we both want to go...so...that probably will not be Bejing

When my mom heard that, she offered to send Lisa to Europe for a LONG vacation to "think it over." Unfortunately, stupid married the guy anyway - no trip to Europe and a divorce 9 months later. -LBJ

performances and compare times for 1980 (Olympic boycott), how many "true" golds would Babaschoff or Tracy Caulkins have won? I suspect they would be right up there - they were both dominant across the board (especially if you throw out the EG women performances which I do since they were so tainted).
