After reading several of the (media) articles about this fabulous swim (and World record) and Phelps's remarks, my respect for him has increased.
I had always admired his fantastic talent and abilities but his remarks about Ian Thorpe have proven that Michael Phelps has shown the manners of a true gentleman. He could have easily taken the path of arrogance and cockiness, when interviewed within minutes of his achievement, but I liked and admired his tone. (Too many articles to quote here, but they're all over.)
