This Sunday is Roatan's 6th annual International Triathlon and Pan American Long Distance. I've been swimming a lot lately, but last Saturday afternoon after completing a 3-1/4 mile swim, I got sick of all things. I have been in bed since Sunday the 4th until yesterday the 12th. I swam about a mile yesterday but all split up. The problem is overall weakness; can't walk very far without holding onto something to catch my breath. But it's only Tuesday so I hope that by this weekend, I will be recovered. Thank goodness it's only a mile swim. My partner is an Ironman competitor flying in from the States; he's doing the run and bike for our relay.
So I am hoping my past training will far exceed my being so darn sick for so long. I just want the mile swim to feel good so it's completely enjoyable.
Wish us luck, I'll report back the results later (oops, may not swim a 22 minute mile this year!!!).

Donna, I don't know why but you & your upcoming swim on Sunday were the first things on my mind this morning. Hoping the past few days have found you feeling better, stronger and eager to attack that race on Sunday and show them all how its done.
Ah Donna, very sorry to hear that--all the more, just as Peter says, keep the good wishes and use them for healing... may the Force be with you more than ever!
I agree about having a doctor check you out. Hope you're feeling better soon!
I'm a little bit embarrassed; I asked for good wishes and you all gave them to me. I have decided to scratch from the triathlon this year, I've been coughing up a little blood since yesterday and think this is not a good thing. Plus I am so weak, I can barely take a shower.
So my partner from the States, an Ironman competitor, is still coming but for vacation only; he is leaving his bike at home. This will be the first tri swim here that I have missed in 6 years; I am disappointed because it is a tradition, but I truly am not up for this race. If I just had the sniffles or a sore throat, but this is much worse. It's pretty deep in my lungs and the least bit of activity has me gasping for air.
So, as someone else told me, keep my thoughts on my bigger goal, the 18 mile swim next year. I will lay low and take care of this awful illness whatever it is and hopefully be back training in a week or so.

Yes, coughing up blood alone is a decent enough reason to scratch a race, don't ya think? :agree:
Take care of yourself, Donna, and let us know how you are doing. B

Sorry to hear about that Donna. You are going to see a doctor soon about that right? (unless of course you already have seen one that is).....Get well soon Donna!

Embarrassment should not be any part of your thoughts! Do take care of your health and be ready for that (YIKES) 18 miles!!!!!!! Keep us posted Donna, and get well!
I went to watch the triathlon today and yesterday it started storming; huge surf and tons of jellyfish everywhere. But this morning, the surf was starting to calm a little and no jellyfish so most people had a good triathlon.
My friend Jo from Scotland WON her group; this was her first race in her life; she is on Cloud 9; I am so proud of her. A wave deposited her right on the beach at the end of the race and she was laying flat on the sand; it was very funny.
Sadly, a girl trying to make the next Summer Olympics messed up big time on the swim. She left in the group after the Elite Men and was back 11 minutes before them; she didn't swim to the last buoy and was disqualified; she said she just didn't see it.
It was an exciting time and there were no injuries on the steep biking hills; a couple of tumbles but no injuries. It was a very good day.
So, until next year.....:groovy:
Its sunday evening and my mental alarm clock went off to check and see how your race went. I guess I missed a couple of posts and naturally I am sad to hear you weren't feeling up to it. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi
How are you feeling now?
Have you seen a doctor yet?
I believe that in a previous post you had mentioned that there were no doctors where you live.
Is it insensitive of me to ask you this on the Sunday when you were supposed to have your (for-you-sprint) swim? (My intentions are good.)
Take Care
Ahmed
