I can't believe that a coach of that "caliber" would actually do that to his swimmers. These kids work so hard, and because of a falling out - Coach Kenney acts like a child and omits their records? That's sad.
Hi,
Today KCBS showed up Heather Farm pool in Walnut Creek looking for comment about this. Kerry O'Brien (who will be 50 on Monday!) and I were on the radio today in the SF BAY AREA:banana: Kinda neat.
If you want to hear it go to www.kcbs.com and click on the local news and look for the Stanford thing...
STANFORD, California, March 9. AFTER a brewing storm of bad press came about early this morning regarding Stanford head coach Skip Kenney altering top times in the Stanford media guide, the administrators at the university have decided to suspend Kenney for the time being according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
He's not going to NCAAs next week. Again, I have the utmost sympathy for the Stanford swimmers. There is no way they can have the type of meet they feel they can have.
It certainly doesn't help things ...
Agreed. You don't need any distractions at this point in the season. Stanford has a history of peaking at Pac-10s as it is. They don't need this. Truly moronic and petty move by Skip Kenney.
From my personal experience historical perspective, this event is not surprising, but it is truly over the top. The stories some of us could tell!
But I hope the record is corrected and the event is forgotten, for all sakes.
DV
I thought Kenney was the more ethical of the Stanford coaches(ask non-Stanford Swimmers about Quick's Olympic Relay picks,or ask Texas Women Swimmers about his jumping ship.) Guess they are 0 for 2.
I just read somewhere that Quick is headed to coach Auburn when the current coach (Marsh) leaves. Is this fact or fiction?
