Half-Strokes: To Take or Not To Take

I know it's always better to try and reach the wall at full extension but sometimes it doesn't always work out that way. So in that case is it better to take the half stroke, or just keep gliding and hope for the best? (In terms of competition and practice)

  • Warren is right that you have to set yourself up several strokes out. Depth perception is important in doing this for breaststroke. Since I have been racing with prescription goggles, I have not had the problem of 1/2 stroke on breaststroke. Could your vision be a part of the problem?
