I would say go for it.
Registration for the NEM Championships was closed as of the registration deadline due to the overwhelming number of entries (over 850). Normally they are able to accept some late entries. But they accept everyone who gets their registration in on time, so it's fair for all. (Although, right now I am sweating it because my entry hasn't been processed yet and they are down to the last 150 or so. I made my husband swear this morning he mailed it when he said he would.) They fully plan on people from other LMSCs attending and have team awards categories for those groups. I would say it is encouraged.
This is the "state" championship meet for anyone in Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, or Rhode Island. I don't know why Connecticut feels they are special and have their own separate non-New England LMSC and own state championships. There are a healthy number of people attending for other states and LMSCs like NY, CT, Missouri Valley, Pacific Northwest, etc.
I fully plan on attending the CT state championships when it rolls around since it occurs at a great time. I can't go to Nationals or Zones this year due to other prior commitments, and the CT state championships fall at a great time when meets start to get sparse.
It's good to get out and socialize with other state groups. That's supposed to be part of the fun of Masters. And people usually think it's special when you come a far distance to visit their state meet. Unless you beleive out of state visitors in general contaminate and create unecessary extra congestions on the roads, in the public transportation and on the sidewalks... But that's a totally different topic.
