Hi Folks,
The new USMS fitness event "Go the Distance" is in progress! How about joining the fun?
The objective of this event is for participants to track the distance they swim during the year 2007. When participants achieve specific distance milestones of 50 miles, 100 miles, 250 miles, 500 miles, 750 miles and 1000 miles – they will be recognized on the USMS website and awards will be available for purchase (for a minimal fee).
If you are interested, please have a look at www.usms.org/.../gothedistance for more information. The results from January are also available for your review.
You can enter this event at any time during 2007 - but why wait any longer!?
Entries from February have been streaming in and once again I am amazed and humbled by our swimming pals in our USMS community. Some have swum incredible distances, others just a few miles ... but both are achievements to be recognized and honored. If you would like your mileage to be included in the February results - please submit them by 3/5/07.
Several folks have already achieved one of several "distance milestones" that were put forth as challenges to the participants in this event! There are awards associated with each milestone that are color coded! So, if you see someone with a "Go the Distance" swim cap or patch that is light blue - they have swum at least 50 miles so far this year! Orange caps / patches indicate the "100 mile" distance milestone was achieved. To date, we even have one person that can proudly wear a kelly green "250 mile" award! There may be more ....
I will begin compiling the results for February on 3/6. They should be posted on the website soon thereafter.
I hope to hear from you soon!
