I thought I'd try an experiment here. I propose that anyone of any swimming level can use this thread (or not) when, whether in a small way or earthshaking manner you've done something in the pool that you're proud and/or pleased by. Anyone is welcome to add encouraging comments (or not) or ask for more info., but please no grandstanding or feuding.
Okay- I'll go first (and I'm just as hesitant as anyone else). Context: last few months hellish: collapse of my dream business, death in family, huge money troubles etc. result months out of water & exercise & 30lb gain. Further, I just went back over the last 10 yrs, averaged 1 meet a year, no more than 4 months training in any one year. So- been back in water 4 weeks, 2-3 times a week and mostly feeling like chopped liver. Monday night coach say we're going to do dive 25's (meters) from blocks, starter's instructions. Now I haven't done this in years 'cause I have a very bad neck- but I've been frustrated so...did all 3 breastroke 16.3, 15.5, 16.2 which tells me I've still got prospects to go fast again! I am pleased.
Fortress,
Thaniks again for organizing a great party. I had so much fun. It was worth travelling to the dark side in Va.
Glad you like out shirts....Alcatraz Psycho Ward Outpatient.
We figured that everyone tells us we were crazy to swim Alcstraz that we needed those shirts.
It was great that so many people were able to venture down for the meet and party. I hope everyone had safe journey home.
Studmuffin, you need to come down again and trash Paris Hilton some more....
Have a great day everyone!
After reading about how great everyone did this past weekend I guess I should add my results. I swam the Utah Masters Champs on Saturday and did 3 events, 100 IM, 50 back and 100 fly. The meet was very small and I did all these in less than 40 minutes. The IM was 1st and I swam my 2nd fastest time ever, this was followed almost immediately by the 50 back (1 heat of 200 fly in between my heats) and I swam this race very slow, about 5 sec off my best. There was then about 20 min rest until the 100 fly and I swam it okay. Didn't die in the final 25 (like I did 2 weeks ago) and finished smooth and strong. But swim this one slow too, about 3 sec off my best (2 weeks ago).
Now to get ready for Nationals.:drink:  :drink:
BTW I got video of the IM. If I can figure out how to get it from camera into computer then on YouTube I'll post it for all to see.
Attaboys & girls to all have been passed along, but I gotta add my congrats as well!
Finally feeling a bit better today, thanks to some rocking PB swims on Sun at zones. Fort mentioned the 100 back, but I was really more excited about breaking through the 29 sec barrier for the first time in the 50 free. Swam through in relays, but never in a flat race. Hit a 28.9 in the last event. Whew! (Of course, this was upstaged by Fort swimming her blazing 25 in the same lane 2 heats later! Way to go Fort!)
Forumites are blazing fast:notworthy: :notworthy: !
Also, a great big attaboy to Stud for not beating the puss out of his team mates after the 200 ***!
Muppet & Mollie get the award for best cheerleaders. I saw them all over the pool cheering on other swimmers. And Muppet, really, with all the talk about you hair how could I not spot you right away?
Dinner was loads of fun. Let's make it an annual event!

Well it was our first trip out together as team mates and it gave us all a laugh....I thought it was only 150 but I wasn't 100% sure. I should have turned and gone off again...someone would have yelled you're finished. I still got under 3 and will be amped for my next meet now! Besides the guy on my team got me to set the race up in my mind properly before I went into the water so that outweighs the confusion. It's my job to count..at leat to 8 lengths. I guess next year I can expect a crowd counting 2, 4 and 6 as I touch back after each 50 LMAO
Dana, you're so right about "Muppellie" (they're like the USMS version of Brangelina) they were awesome for me. Hearing them yell out for me as I got up for my first race was awesome!
Looks like we should go head to head in the 50 Fr there Dana too. I nearly broke 29...maybe we can circle swim? You'll swim fast to escape and I'll be trying to catch up ;)

Oooohh, My first grudge match...Can't wait!:woot:
In addition to Kevin's zones, Illinois state champs are next weekend. Aquafeisty and FlyQueen are in line for some attagirls. My Draculina twin has another meet soon. So does SwimStud. So no worries about a paucity of posting. Then of course SCY Nats is right around the corner. And all of us other forum folk will hopefully continue to make some positive improvement of note.
Uh oh! I better swim well this weekend.
I'm only swimming one day but it'll be a busy one.
50 free
50 fly
100 back
100 IM
200 free relay
400 medley relay
400 free relay
AttaFort for doing a great job of reporting...'course we need more specifics on your swims...
After all her worrying about the 100 free it looks like she swam it darn near perfect to me:
28.35 57.99 (29.64)
Not sure if she's happy with the time, but the splits look good!

Thanks Kirk! Ande told me I took it out too slow. (I was worried the piano would fall early because I had been so sick all week, so I went out a bit cautiously.) I think I took most of the breathing advice I was given. I didn't breathe until about 8 strokes off the start, then about every 4 and not much the last half length. I had more oxygen than I thought thanks to my trusty inhaler that Muppet did not steal. ;) I'm happy with the time. Since it's the first time I have swum that event since college, it was a PB. Plus, I won, that's always fun and helps the team. I was happier with my 50 free though.
I guess I was on the other end of the forum table when Rich was trashing Paris Hilton, but attaboy for that, Rich!

Poor Paris...I bet she's secretly crushed that she'll never have a shot with me...
Great meet...great meal out...I'll be back!
Attaboys and Attagirls for all the swimmers who competed in the Colony Zones meet....and for all who drove up to watch and cheer on their friends...such as Barb, Swimmy and Diana C for example!!
