Attaboy or attagirl: SR NH everyone welcome

I thought I'd try an experiment here. I propose that anyone of any swimming level can use this thread (or not) when, whether in a small way or earthshaking manner you've done something in the pool that you're proud and/or pleased by. Anyone is welcome to add encouraging comments (or not) or ask for more info., but please no grandstanding or feuding. Okay- I'll go first (and I'm just as hesitant as anyone else). Context: last few months hellish: collapse of my dream business, death in family, huge money troubles etc. result months out of water & exercise & 30lb gain. Further, I just went back over the last 10 yrs, averaged 1 meet a year, no more than 4 months training in any one year. So- been back in water 4 weeks, 2-3 times a week and mostly feeling like chopped liver. Monday night coach say we're going to do dive 25's (meters) from blocks, starter's instructions. Now I haven't done this in years 'cause I have a very bad neck- but I've been frustrated so...did all 3 breastroke 16.3, 15.5, 16.2 which tells me I've still got prospects to go fast again! I am pleased.

30 of any thing in one area... Then to swim after.... I don't think I am tough enough to hang out here;) Seriously Fortress, I hope your shoulder heals up for you. A guy that works for me had a torn rotater cuff and it took him along time to fully recover. I hope yours does not get to the point of surgery. Got Boost

Did you miss the NH designation? :thhbbb: I just don't want to be only a breaststroker the rest of my life.:thhbbb: I'm leaving that for mini-Fort. One breaststroker in the family is enough! Amen to that sister! My daughter is also a b-stroker, and I love her anyway. I swim the b-stroke mainly to make her work harder. If I can beat her, she practices harder! Promise not to do any butt kicking at zones. Will be in the midst of major engine building for Nats, and plan to swim "off" events. I actually have the 200 *** penciled in on my entry form; although, I may come to my senses before mailing.

Leslie- of course, I'm not hijacking my own thread. That would be wrong. By the way, did you say you were an honorary corpse? Surely your shoulder isn't that bad yet? The rest of you, lay off the Fort, she's had a hard time lately...shopping. Attaboy, Rich. Also no pictures, please. Lurching the thread back onto task, I actually descended a set of 100's properly last night, instead of staying in survival mode as I have been since getting back in the water.

Since they won't be of newly discovered ab muscles or bruised shoulders or whatnot, I think they'll pass the HWMNBN offense test. And we could see the pain caused by those descending breaststroke swims. In fact, as you note, I have been very busy shopping for shoulder holders. What a job. You'd think us reformed prolo-tarians could hire someone to do those tedious chores ... Next time I'll send mini-Fort. Good assignment for a breaststroker. Cheers oh lefty one, Not yet an honorary corpse/SWMNNH P.S. Attaboy SS!
  • Excellent idea! Beth, post some photos of you and your daughter. That would be fun! You're not swimming the 100 *** though are you? Just the relay together? I'm so glad you can do fly!! :groovy: The best stroke ever -- also the most shoulder wrecking stroke (well for my particular ailment anyway). ;) Are you swimming your fav event, the 100 free? Report back so we can give you some more attagirls. I think we all enjoy doing that. :) Peter: There will be no photos. :shakeshead: They weren't all "injections." Some just pin pricks, slapped some biofreeze on it. No more NSAIDs. We'll see over time whether the prolo helps. I am apparently the first prolo guinea pig on these boards even though it seems to be increasing in popularity. Me and those baseball pitchers ... If my shoulder is substantially better in 6 months and I can still swim and and fly and compete along the way, I'm changing my name to ProloQueen. I'm sure FlyQueen won't mind. Especially since she appears to be morphing into a freestyler. She may have to get a new secret nemesis. ;) Just don't give me up the 50 fly, FlyQueen, even if you love that 100 free! At least no one can say I'm conventional in my choice of therapy. ;) Actually I am thinking I am 100 swimmer. The 100s I will swim will be fly and free. Fly is still my favorite stroke but I still have a ways to go before I can actually earn my moniker. We'll see ... I'll still do the 50s for sure and MIGHT bump up the 200 free ever so often (the 100 free is fabulous just like my other big sister says) I will NEVER give up the 50 fly, too much fun. I am liking the 100 more and more and I hope you beat me down ... :dedhorse: ... If I ever start talking 200 fly again in any way shape or form (with the possible excpetion of doing it at state for teammate points) Anyway ... Beth I am SO happy for you that you are back in the water. I think it's great that your daughter is swimming with you. Can't wait to hear about that. How is your other daughter doing?
  • Perhaps you would be a Prolo-tarian... Are you hijacking your own thread? I think I've already advanced a wee bit up the cursus honorum. So I'm not sure I want to go back .... FlyQueen: Listen to your big sis, do not ever swim the 200 fly!! Or you and your labrum will join me in Prolo-land. Way to go Rich! Glad you're giving the ladies an eyeful at the pool. ;)

OK. Totally gratuitous bit of news. I just looked in the mirror. My top 2 abs are just barely discernable if I stretch and tense...woot! Haven't seen those guys since about '94---they look pale...guess they got jealous of my calves having all the attention eh, Jim? /flex
