While I have always had the usual variations on shoulder pain and am able to manage it via the typical rc exercises, cutting back on hand paddles, and the occasional advil, it has now progressed to something different. I have a painful pulling sensation that radiates from the base of my neck out to my shoulder on the left side along my collar bone. None of the exercises have seemed to help nor cutting out hand paddles. It has actually started keeping me awake at night and even though I can curb the pain with a couple of ibuprofens, the second they wear off, I wake up again. This is especially frustrating when I have to get up at 4:30 to swim.
I guess my question then is, has anyone else experienced these symptoms and if so what did they do about it or what do they think this particular probelm could be. It is on my left so it is my (usual) non-breathing side and I am aware that I have a tendency to hyperextend that side and I've tried to be concious of doing that. If anyone has had this, did they find it worth seeing a doctor or should I step up my exercises before I go that route?
Thanks!
