Well, it's that time. End of another year spent overweight and out of shape. I'm done with this body. Time to go back into the pool. This time I will stick with it. Gonna follow the "zero-to-1 mile in 6 weeks" plan and go from there. Hard to believe I was an "A" swimmer circa 1983. :D
Wish me luck....

I swam a continuous mile tonight for the first time. The best part is that I felt great doing it and felt like I could have gone on for a few hundred more yards. It's hard for me to believe that I was winded after swimming 300 yards in December. Goal number one (some endurance) accomplished.
Goal number two involves developing speed. I'm a little embarrassed about how long it took me to swim that mile, but let's say I could knock 10 minutes off the time and I still wouldn't be competitve. I'm looking forward to the variety that workouts provide and the challenge of the pace clock.
Goal three might involve competition: I went to a local masters meet just to check it out came away with two thoughts (1) this looks like a lot of fun and (2) I think I can do this if I work hard. It's hard to hang out with y'all and not get the bug.
A big thank you to you all. I've never really felt alone working on this.
