Well, it's that time. End of another year spent overweight and out of shape. I'm done with this body. Time to go back into the pool. This time I will stick with it. Gonna follow the "zero-to-1 mile in 6 weeks" plan and go from there. Hard to believe I was an "A" swimmer circa 1983. :D Wish me luck....

Bad news for me. I have pneumonia. I've had a cough for a couple of weeks and it started wth a light fever. Well, I got a raging fever on Sunday night and went to bed at 5:30PM. Tossed and turned until the next morning, then drug myself to the local urgent care. One listen to my chest and he says "Yep, you've got pneumonia." A couple of chest x-rays later and it was confirmed. This really sucks. I can't really swim again until this is gone. Grrrrrrrrrr! Don't fret just rest. I was sick over New Year. I had 2 solid weeks of training in January doing about 2000-2500 yards each swim, every other day. Then a week out from my meet I rested up only swam 2 x in the week no more than 1200 Yards. I posted faster times than I imagined I could do. the rest won't hurt you...as much as you think and your body will enjoy the recuperation immensely.
