Which poster would you most like to race and in what event?

Who do you want to race? In what event? The race is on. I'm challenging Richjb to a 50 ***. I'll even challenge Terry to a 50 butterfrog.

  • I did my fastest-to-date 100 Butterfrog last night, while swimming a 3600-yard IM set with Dave Barra. Swimming from a pushoff, on the way to a 400 IM, the digital clock said 1:23 when I looked at it as I turned to begin Backstroke. Maybe we can do this as a back-and-forth series of swims pushing each other to go faster. You might not have too much difficulty knocking that one off, motivating me to go faster. Well, I'm on the comeback trail, but I finally felt decent enough to do some swims for "time" at the end of practice. I started off with the 100 butterfrog, or I intended too. I must concede defeat. How embarassing. I went about 40 yards and was about to drown, so I threw in the towel. Instead, I did the 100 "breastdolphin." Did a 1:21 push off, maybe 80%. It was astonishing to actually have some forward momentum/propulsion in "***." So, we're probably at a draw with our preferred kicks. I also did a pair of push-off 50 flys (26s) and a pair of push-off 50 backs (27s) in a descending set of 5 x 50 back (with fins--shoulder rehab). My only object was to stay under water SDK-ing as long as I could (couldn't quite do it the allowed maximum on the second length). This exercise makes me think that I should just be happy with my dolphin kick and that my current obsession with SDKs/monofining is worthwhile. If I can't do fly 10 years from now, maybe I'll try butterfrog again. But until then, you'll have to race someone else in that event.
